The assignment will be concretised by the signing of the contract during the Europort fair (November 3-6, Rotterdam). Building will commence immediately upon signing of the contract, and the first CRT’s (LOA 30 m, static BP 70 tons, main engines 2 x 2,650 kW at 1,000 rpm, free running speed 14.1 knots at 5,300 kW) will be delivered in the first quarter of 2017. Van der Velden Barkemeyer GmbH, a 100% daughter company of Damen, are going to build the two Carrousel Rave Tugs.
The bodies will be built by yet another renowned German company: Theodor Buschmann GmbH. And these two Hamburg-based specialists complete the so-called Dream Team of Novatug. During the past years, Voith, Robert Allan, ABC and Luyt Groep worked together very intensively while applying all their experience and expertise to a vessel that is to become the crown on a concept that won the Dutch Maritime Innovation Award in 2002. Bureau Veritas will take responsibility for the classification of the vessels.
